What do I need to activate my card?

  • To activate your Commonwealth Bank card you need to have a valid bank account and be a cardholder (which you are if you have a Commonwealth Bank credit or debit card).
  • Net banking Access or CommBank App Access
  • The 16 digit card number printed on your card
  • Your mobile number to Receive OTP

Activate your Commonwealth Bank Card Online

If you want to use your Commonwealth Bank credit card for payment, you need to activate it first. This is done through the Commonwealth Bank website. You can activate your credit card in three ways:

Follow the Steps to Activate card using Mobile App

Step 1: Open the CommBank mobile app.

Step 2: Tap on Cards

Step 3: Click on Decide debit MasterCard or Credit Card.

Step 4: Set a PIN after tapping Activate.

Step 5: Now we see the confirmation message on the screen.

Follow the Steps to Activate card using Net Banking

To activate on Netbank, select the button below.

Step 1: Log in to NetBank.

Step 2: Select Settings from the menu.

Step 3: Select Card Activation > Debit Master Card or Credit Card Activation from the security menu.

Step 4: Input the last four numbers of your new card.

Step 5: Set up a PIN.

Step 6: To enter the net code you received on your mobile number, click Get Net Code.

Step 7: Activate the button: press it.

Can I still activate my CommBank Card after the first 3 months?

Yes! You can still activate your card even after the first 3 months. You just need to know your card details, i.e. 16-digit card number, expiry date, and 3-digit security code.

Add an AU Card Holder as an Authorized User

If you have children or other family members who you would like to give access to your account, you can add them as authorized users to your account.

This way, they can use your Commonwealth Bank credit card. To do so, you would need to contact the nearest branch or Contact Customer Care.
