Where do I use DD?
Nowadays most people are adopting e-banking facilities so that they can carry out their banking transactions online. Earlier we have discussed how you can make an online transfer from your savings account and now we will take you through another step, the Demand draft.
All Indian banks offer online facilities using which one can generate demand drafts for various purposes such as shopping, Payment etc.
The procedure for making demand drafts is very simple & quick without visiting a bank branch. This can be done by any user who has an internet connection and credit/debit card linked with his/her bank account registered with UPI App or Mobile Banking Application.
what is DD?
A demand draft is similar to a cheque, but it’s drawn on your bank’s account instead of an individual checking account.
Your DD should be made out to whomever you are paying. To create one online with BOB, log in to online banking and follow the Above steps.
How can I use DD?
There are two ways that you can use a demand draft. First, you can use it as a payment method when buying something online. For example, if you wanted to buy something off Amazon, many sellers accept DD.
The second way is that your bank might give you a DD for transferring funds into your account. This works as an ATM card because banks deliver them to their customers and banks allow users to access funds through them.
Check with your bank’s customer service desk to see if they offer this service. If so, you can ask them how much money they require from you before issuing one.
If not, ask what alternatives there are for receiving cash from another person who does have access to that sort of facility. The fact is that DDs are especially useful when somebody wants to give you an amount of money but doesn’t want it in their account for any length of time.
Instead, they want it transferred into yours instantly and get a receipt as proof that it has been done.
What are DD Requirements?
In order to make a demand draft, you will need several things. You will need your account number and if you want it in somebody else’s name, you will also need their full details, like name and address etc. Also for making DDs over Rs 50,000 you will need PAN card details.
Once all these are taken care of, you can visit any branch or do it online through internet banking.
On average, a branch charges around Rs 20-30 per DD whereas online bank charges around Rs 10-15. It depends on much amount is needed for your DD.
